Faith-Based

Koza

This unique project was a culmination of a decade of work in Japan. The church serves the US military stationed in Okinawa. At their former facility the city was widening the road and expanding it down the center aisle of the church. Don Highlander assisted the church in developing a program of their space needs, analyzed numerous sites, and coordinated with a Japanese builder to create a unique design to serve a church of 300 people.

The Gathering

The Vision for this church is to reach the non-churched. The main idea behind the building is to provide a structure that does not look like a church and would not be intimidating. This project is nearing construction.

First Baptist Church of Grove City

This church has seen significant growth since moving into their 32,000 SF new home on 90 acres. The concept of the design was a traditional look with a contemporary twist. The main entrance is clearly identifiable along the curved driveway that surrounded by a lake on each side. Once inside the large vestibule leads directly to the multi-use worship center. The vestibule also leads to other departments such as preschool and children. The kitchen is strategically located to serve either the multi-use worship center or the smaller fellowship hall that divides up into adult classroom space.

Fletcher United Methodist Church

The goal of this replacement auditorium was to preserve the traditional look of the former sanctuary but create a space for modern day worship. The large vestibule provides a gathering space for conversation and refreshments. The platform is on the long axis and the comfortable padded chairs provides for flexibility. The large kitchen serves both the cafe area as well as when the sanctuary is converted to a dining area.
